పొలిమేర, రజాకార్ వంటి చిత్రాలతో జాతీయ స్థాయిలో కెమెరామెన్గా కుశేందర్ రమేష్ రెడ్డికి గుర్తింపు వచ్చింది. ఆయన సినిమాటోగ్రఫర్గా పని చేసిన ‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ చిత్రం ఆగస్ట్ 29న రాబోతోంది. స్టార్ డైరెక్టర్ మారుతి సమర్పణలో వానర సెల్యూలాయిడ్ బ్యానర్ మీద విజయ్ పాల్ రెడ్డి అడిదెల నిర్మించిన ఈ ‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ చిత్రానికి మోహన్ శ్రీవత్స దర్శకత్వం వహించారు. ఇప్పటికే టీజర్, ట్రైలర్లు మూవీపై అంచనాలు పెంచేశాయి. మరీ ముఖ్యంగా విజువల్స్ గురించి అందరూ మాట్లాడుకుంటున్నారు. ఈ క్రమంలో కుశేందర్ రమేష్ రెడ్డి ఈ మూవీకి సంబంధించిన విశేషాలను పంచుకున్నారు.
*‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ ప్రయాణం ఎలా మొదలైంది?
‘రజాకార్’ చివరి షెడ్యూల్లో ఉన్నప్పుడు దర్శకుడు మోహన్ ఈ కథ గురించి చెప్పారు. కథ విన్న వెంటనే నాకు చాలా నచ్చింది. కథ విన్న తరువాత నా సలహాలు, సూచనలు చెప్పాను. ఎలాంటి కలర్ గ్రేడింగ్, ప్యాట్రన్ వాడితే బాగుంటుందనే రిఫరెన్సులు కూడా ఇచ్చాను. అవన్నీ కూడా మారుతి గారికి చాలా నచ్చాయి. దీంతో దర్శకుడు మోహన్, నిర్మాత విజయ్, నేను కలిసి ఈ ప్రాజెక్ట్ని అలా మొదలు పెట్టాం.
*‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ చిత్రీకరణ సమయంలో ఎదుర్కొన్న సవాళ్లు ఏంటి?
‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ మూవీ ఎక్కువగా రాత్రి పూట, రెయిన్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్లోనే షూటింగ్ చేశాం. వేసవి కాలంలో రెయిన్ సీజన్ ఎఫెక్ట్ను చూపించడం అంత సులభం కాదు. అదే మాకు పెద్ద ఛాలెంజింగ్. ఎండాకాలంలో వానాకాలాన్ని సృష్టించేందుకు చాలా కష్టపడాల్సి వచ్చింది. ఈ విషయంలో మాత్రం నిర్మాత విజయ్ డేరింగ్ స్టెప్ తీసుకున్నారు. కథ కోసం ఎక్కడా కాంప్రమైజ్ కాకుండా నిర్మించారు. మొదటి సినిమా అయినా కూడా కథ మీద నమ్మకంతో ఆయన భారీ బడ్జెట్ను పెట్టారు.
*‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’లో చిత్రంలోని ప్రత్యేకతలు ఏంటి?
‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ సినిమాలో ప్రతీ పాత్రకు ఓ ప్రత్యేకత ఉంటుంది. ఒక్కో పాత్రకు సపరేట్ కలర్ గ్రేడింగ్ వాడాము. ఒక్కో పాత్ర రూపాంతరం చెందుతున్న తీరుకి తగ్గట్టుగా కలర్ గ్రేడింగ్ మారుతుంది. ఇక రెయిన్ ఎఫెక్ట్ సీన్లను చూస్తే ఎంతో సహజంగా అనిపిస్తాయి. ‘తుంబాడ్’, ‘2018’ చిత్రాలకు ఏ మాత్రం తగ్గకుండా ఎంతో నేచురల్గా కనిపిస్తుంది.
*‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ ప్రధాన బలం ఏంటి?
‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ మూవీకి ప్రధాన బలం కథ. స్క్రిప్ట్ విన్నప్పుడే ఈ మూవీని చేయాలని ఫిక్స్ అయ్యాను. ‘పొలిమేర’, ‘రజాకార్’ కథలు విన్నప్పుడు ఎలాంటి ఫీలింగ్ కలిగిందో.. ఈ మూవీ కథను విన్నప్పుడు కూడా అలాంటి ఫీలింగే కలిగింది. ప్రతీ పాత్రకు ఇంపార్టెన్స్ ఉంటుంది. క్లైమాక్స్ని ఎవ్వరూ ఊహించలేరు. ఈ మూవీకి క్లైమాక్స్ అద్భుతంగా సెట్ అయింది.
*‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ చిత్రంలోని ఆర్టిస్టులతో వర్కింగ్ ఎక్స్పీరియెన్స్ గురించి చెప్పండి?
‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ చిత్రంలో ఉదయ భాను గారి పాత్ర చాలా పవర్ ఫుల్గా ఉంటుంది. చాలా ఏళ్ల తరువాత మళ్లీ ఉదయ భాను గారు ఓ అద్భుతమైన పాత్రలో ఆడియెన్స్ ముందుకు రాబోతోన్నారు. ఈ చిత్రంలో వశిష్ట గారిని సరికొత్తగా చూస్తారు. ‘బాహుబలి’కి పని చేసినప్పటి నుంచి నాకు సత్య రాజ్ గారితో పరిచయం ఉంది. ఆయన ఎప్పుడూ కూడా సెట్స్కి ఆన్ టైంలో వస్తుంటారు. నైట్ షూట్స్, రెయిన్ ఎఫెక్ట్ సీన్లంటూ మేం ఆయన్ను చాలా ఇబ్బంది పెట్టాం (నవ్వుతూ).
‘ *త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ పట్ల సంతృప్తిగా ఉన్నారా?
‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ కథ విన్నప్పుడు నేను ఎలా ఊహించుకున్నానో.. అలానే తీయగలిగాను. అందులో నాకు ఫ్రీడం ఇచ్చిన దర్శక, నిర్మాతలకు థాంక్స్. నిర్మాత అయితే ఖర్చుకి వెనుకాడకుండా నిర్మించారు. ఆయన ప్రతీ రోజూ సెట్స్కు వస్తుండేవారు. కథను నమ్మాను.. సినిమా బాగా రావాలి అని నిత్యం అంటుండేవారు. అలాంటి ప్రొడ్యూసర్ ఉండటం వల్లే ఈ మూవీని అనుకున్నట్టుగా, విజువలైజ్ చేసుకున్నట్టుగా తీయగలిగాను.
*‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ కథ పరంగా ఎలా ఉండబోతోంది?
మనం ఎప్పుడూ కూడా తెలుగులో కంటెంట్ బేస్డ్ సినిమాలు రావడం లేదు.. రావు అని అనుకుంటూ ఉంటాం. మలయాళంలో కంటెంట్ ఓరియెంటెడ్ చిత్రాలు వస్తాయని చెబుతుంటాం. కానీ తెలుగులోనూ కంటెంట్ బేస్డ్ చిత్రాలు వస్తున్నాయని నిరూపించేందుకు ‘త్రిబాణధారి బార్బరిక్’ అనే మూవీ వస్తోంది. ఇలాంటి చిత్రాలు చాలా అరుదుగా వస్తాయి. ప్రతీ ఒక్కరినీ ఆశ్చర్యపరిచేలా ఈ సినిమా ఉంటుంది.
*మీ ఫ్యూచర్ ప్రాజెక్ట్స్ గురించి చెప్పండి?
ప్రస్తుతం అల్లరి నరేష్ గారితో ‘12ఏ రైల్వే కాలనీ’ మూవీని చేశాను. త్వరలోనే అది రిలీజ్ కాబోతోంది. ‘పొలిమేర 3’త్వరలోనే షూట్ స్టార్ట్ అవుతుంది. పొలిమేర దర్శకుడు అనిల్ గారితో కంటిన్యూగా ప్రాజెక్ట్లు ఉంటాయి. ఇక రీసెంట్గానే ‘కామాఖ్య’ చిత్రీకరణ ప్రారంభించాం.

Kushendar Ramesh Reddy, who gained national recognition for his work in films like Polimera and Razakar, is back with another visually striking film titled Tribanadhari Barbarik, set to release on August 29th. Directed by Mohan Srivatsa and produced by Vijaypal Reddy Adidhala under the Vanara Celluloid banner, the film is being presented by star director Maruthi on Maruthi Team Product. With its teaser and trailer already creating buzz, especially for the visuals and griping narrative, the film has generated high expectations. Interim, cinematographer Kushendar Ramesh Reddy shared his experience working on the project.
*How did the journey of ‘Tribandhaari Barbarik’ begin?*
During the final schedule of Razakar, director Mohan narrated the story to me. I was instantly drawn to it. After hearing the story, I offered suggestions and references on color grading and visual patterns that would enhance the narrative. Maruthi garu appreciated those ideas immensely. That’s how director Mohan, producer Vijay, and I came together and started this project.
*What were the major challenges during filming?*
Most of Tribanadhari Barbarik was shot at night and under rain effects. Creating a monsoon atmosphere during summer is no easy task, which was our biggest challenge. Simulating the rainy season in hot weather required a lot of effort. Producer Vijay took a bold step by not compromising on the vision. Despite this being his debut film, he invested in the project with full faith in the story and allowed us to work with a substantial budget.
*What are the film’s standout features?*
Each character in Tribanadhari Barbarik has a unique identity. We used distinct color grading for each character, which changes in accordance with their transformation throughout the film. The rain effect scenes are designed to look as natural as possible. Visually, the film is on par with high-quality productions like Tumbbad and 2018 in terms of realism and texture.
*What is the core strength of the film?*
The film’s biggest strength is its story. When I first heard the script, I immediately decided to take it on—just like I did with Polimera and Razakar. Every character has significance, and the climax is completely unpredictable. The way it’s structured will leave the audience surprised.
*How was your experience working with the cast?*
Udaya Bhanu garu plays a very powerful role in the film. She’s returning to the screen with an impactful performance after many years. Vasishta garu will also be seen in a fresh new avatar. I’ve known Sathyaraj garu since my days working on Baahubali. He is extremely punctual on set. Though we put him through challenging night shoots and rain scenes, he never once complained (laughs).
*Are you satisfied with how the film turned out?*
I was able to film Tribanadhari Barbarik exactly how I had envisioned it when I first heard the story. For that, I thank both the director and producer for giving me complete creative freedom. The producer never hesitated to spend where needed. He was on set every single day, constantly motivating the team by saying, “We believe in the story, the film has to come out well.” Having such a committed producer is what made it possible for me to bring the film to life just as I visualized.
*What can the audience expect from the story?*
People often say that Telugu cinema doesn’t produce enough content-driven films and look to Malayalam cinema for that. But Tribanadhari Barbarik is here to prove otherwise. This is a rare kind of film in Telugu, deeply rooted in content, with strong characters and storytelling that will surprise the audience.
*What’s next for you?*
I recently wrapped up a film with Allari Naresh titled 12A Railway Colony, which will be released soon. Polimera 3 will also begin shooting shortly. I will continue collaborating with director Anil garu on upcoming projects. I’ll be working as a cinematographer for a new film titled Kamakhya with some other director.
