* ఇండస్ట్రీలోకి ఎలా వచ్చారు? ఇంతకు ముందు ఏం నేర్చుకున్నారు?
నేను సంగీతాన్ని నేర్చుకున్నా కూడా.. నాకు సినిమాలోకి రావాలని, దర్శకుడు కావాలన్నదే నా కల. ఎన్నో ఈవెంట్లలో పాటలు కూడా పాడేవాడిని. అదే నాకు ఇన్ని రోజులు తిండి పెట్టింది.
*‘బార్బరిక్’ కథ ఎలా ఓకే అయింది?
నేను కథల్ని బాగా చెప్పగలను. అద్భుతంగా నెరేషన్ ఇవ్వగలను. ఈ ‘బార్బరిక్’ కథను నిర్మాతకు చెప్పిన వెంటనే నచ్చింది. మారుతి గారు నా కథను విని ఆశ్చర్యపోయారు. నా నెరేషన్తోనే ఆయన నన్ను నమ్మేశారు.
*మారుతి గారి సపోర్ట్ ఎలా ఉండేది?
మారుతి గారి జానర్లో ఉండే సినిమా కాదిది. కానీ ఈ కథను నేను పర్ఫెక్ట్గా నెరేట్ చేశాను. ఆ తరువాత యాభై శాతం షూటింగ్ చేశాను. ‘మహారాజా’ స్క్రీన్ ప్లే, టెంప్లెట్లో ఈ మూవీ ఉంటుంది. ఆ మూవీ తరువాత మారుతి గారు మా ‘బార్బరిక్’ను ఎక్కువగా నమ్మారు.
*సత్య రాజ్ గారి పాత్ర, ఆయన సహకారం ఎలా ఉండేది?
బార్బరికుడు త్రిబాణంతో కురుక్షేత్రంను ఆపగలరు. అలాంటి బార్బరికుడిని కృష్ణుడు ఓ వరం అడిగి యుద్దాన్ని జరిగేలా చేస్తారు. నార్త్లో బార్బరికుడు ఫాలోయింగ్ చాలా ఉంటుంది. సత్య రాజ్ గారు బార్బరికుడిలా కొన్ని చోట్ల కనిపిస్తారు. మేకప్ విషయంలో ఆయనను చాలా కష్టపెట్టాను.
*‘బార్బరిక్’ చూసిన తరువాత మారుతి గారు ఏమైనా సలహాలు ఇచ్చారా?
‘రాజా సాబ్’ షూటింగ్లో మారుతి గారు బిజీగా ఉన్నా కూడా మా ‘బార్బరిక్’ మూవీ కోసం చాలా పని చేశారు. మాకు ఎన్నో ఇన్ పుట్స్ ఇచ్చారు. ఆయన సహకారం నేను ఎప్పుడూ మర్చిపోలేను.
*ఉదయభాను గారి పాత్ర ఎలా ఉండబోతోంది?
‘బార్బరిక్’ కథలో చాలా లేయర్స్ ఉంటాయి. ప్రస్తుతం జరుగుతున్న సంఘటనలకే మైథలాజికల్ టచ్ ఇచ్చాను. ‘బార్బరిక్’ కంటెంట్ బేస్డ్ మూవీ. ఇందులోని ప్రతీ పాత్రకు భిన్న పార్శ్యాలు ఉంటాయి. సత్య రాజ్ గారు, ఉదయభాను గారు, వశిష్ట గారు ఇలా అందరూ అద్భుతంగా నటించారు.
*‘బార్బరిక్’ కోసం ఇన్ ఫ్యూజన్ బ్యాండ్ను ఎందుకు తీసుకున్నారు?
నాకు మ్యూజిక్ మీద టచ్ ఉంది. ఆ విషయంలో ఆడియెన్స్ పల్స్ నాకు తెలుసు. ఇన్ ఫ్యూజన్ బ్యాండ్తో నాకు మంచి బంధం ఉంది. మాకు అద్భుతమైన పాటలు ఇచ్చారు. ఆర్ఆర్ కూడా అదిరిపోతుంది. కొత్తగా ఉండాలనే ఇలా బ్యాండ్ని తీసుకున్నాను.
*‘బార్బరిక్’ విషయంలో నిర్మాత విజయ్ గారి సహకారం ఎలా ఉంది?
‘బార్బరిక్’ సబ్జెక్ట్కి తగ్గట్టుగా నిర్మాత విజయ్ పాల్ రెడ్డి గారికి ఓ బడ్జెట్ ఇచ్చాను. మారుతి గారు కూడా మాకు చాలా సపోర్ట్ చేశారు. మా నిర్మాత విజయ్ గారు ఎక్కడా కూడా కాంప్రమైజ్ కాకుండా మాకు అండగా నిలిచారు.
*‘బార్బరిక్’ సినిమా ఎలా ఉంటుంది? ఎలాంటి సందేశాన్ని ఇవ్వబోతోన్నారు?
‘బార్బరిక్’ చిత్రంలో హీరో, విలన్ అని ఉండరు. అన్ని పాత్రల్లో అన్ని యాంగిల్స్ ఉంటాయి. అన్ని పాత్రల్లోనూ అంతర్గిక యుద్దం జరుగుతుంటుంది. ఈ మూవీతో మంచి సందేశాన్ని ఇవ్వాలని అనుకుంటున్నాను. తెలిసో తెలియకో అందరం తప్పులు చేస్తుంటాం. అన్ని ఎమోషన్స్ను కంట్రోల్లో పెట్టుకునే వాడు గొప్ప మనిషి అని చెప్పదల్చుకుంటున్నాను. అన్ని వర్గాల వారిని ఆకట్టుకునేలా అందరినీ అలరించేలా మా చిత్రం ఉంటుంది.
There are no heroes or villains in Barbarik: Director Mohan Srivatsa
‘Tribanadhari Barbarik’ is a film produced by Vijaypal Reddy Adidhala under the banner of Vanara Celluloid, presented by star director Maruthi under Maruthi Team Product. Mohan Srivatsa directed the film, which features prominent roles played by Sathyaraj, Udaya Bhanu, Vasishta N. Simha, Satyam Rajesh, Kranthi Kiran, and Saanchi Rai. *How did you get into the industry, and what did you learn before?*
Although I learned music, it was always my dream to enter the film industry and become a director. I used to sing at many events, and that’s what sustained me all these years.
*How was the ‘Barbarik’ story finalized?*
I’m very good at telling stories and can give an excellent narration. When I narrated the ‘Barbarik’ story to the producer, he liked it immediately. Maruthi was also surprised after hearing my story. He believed in me based on my narration alone.
*How was Maruthi’s support?*
This film is not in Maruthi’s genre. But I narrated the story perfectly. After that, I shot fifty percent of the movie. This film is in the same screenplay and template as ‘Maharaja’. After seeing that film, Maruthi believed in our film ‘Barbarik’ even more.
*What about Sathyaraj’s character and his support?*
Barbarik could have stopped the Kurukshetra war with his three arrows. But Shri Krishna asks for a boon from Barbarik to ensure the war happens. Barbarik has a huge following in the North. Sathyaraj appears as Barbarik in some parts of the film. I put him through a lot of trouble for the makeup.
*Did Maruthi give any advice after watching ‘Barbarik’?*
Even though Maruthi was busy with the shooting of ‘Raja Saab,’ he worked hard for our movie ‘Barbarik’. He gave us a lot of inputs. I can never forget his support.
*What kind of character is Udaya Bhanu playing?*
The story of ‘Barbarik’ has many layers. I gave a mythological touch to current events. ‘Barbarik’ is a content-based movie. Every character in it has different facets. Sathyaraj, Udaya Bhanu, Vasishta, and everyone else have performed wonderfully.
*Why did you choose the Infusion Band for ‘Barbarik’?*
I have a touch for music, and I know the audience’s pulse. I have a good relationship with the Infusion Band. They gave us wonderful songs, and the background score is also amazing. I chose the band because I wanted something new.
*How was the producer Vijay’s support for ‘Barbarik’?*
I gave producer Vijaypal Reddy a budget that suited the subject of ‘Barbarik’. Maruthi also supported us a lot. Our producer Vijay stood by us and didn’t compromise anywhere.
*What kind of film is ‘Barbarik’, and what message does it convey?*
In ‘Barbarik’, there are no heroes or villains. All characters have different angles, and an internal conflict is happening within all of them. I want to convey a good message with this movie. We all make mistakes, knowingly or unknowingly. My message is that a great person is someone who can control all of their emotions. Our film will entertain everyone and impress people from all walks of life.
